Apatite is opaque and sometimes transparent with a hardness of 5 on the Mohs hardness scale. It usually comes in neon colours but yellow apatite tends to be the most common colour which means it will cost much less than green or blue apatite. It’s also very popular because of how similar it is to Paraiba tourmaline. Apatite a commonly found mineral that is located in many different types of rock, but most of the gem quality stones are found in pegmatites.
